*** Art is for Everyone ***

Penny has created a series of four "try-out" workshops

on specific themes, based on fun exercises,

to encourage more people to experience the fun, relaxation and general wellbeing brought

by taking part in art activities, but also to encourage you tothink and work like artists.

The classes will give a grounding in the basics of each media or technique, and give yo the skills to experiment further yourself or as preparation for courses starting September.. Though no previous knowledge is assumed,, those with some experience often attend as masterclasses in experimental methods.

Each workshop can be booked separately, though you can gain further by attending them as a series.

You will create at least one finished piece to take home and have the tools to create further.

All materials are provided though you are welcome to bring your own.

NOTE:

Some information below, including workshop titles and dates are different from the earlier produced flyer.

9th. July      Working with Pencil

"Turn your doodles into drawings"

You will learn the differences in a range of soft, medium and hard pencils, experimenting with spontanous scribbling as well as structured mark-making for affect, to create boundaries to forms or shapes, as well creating the imprssion of light and shade.

There will be the opportunity to try out speciality pencils.

16th. July      Fun with Charcoal

"Create art with your fingers"

Create lines and marks, smudge and blend using various sizes of charcoal. This medium is all but boring as you create both smooth effects and patterned textures by how you hold the charcoal stick or how you work on it after.

You will vary the effects with different papers and other materials.

23rd. July      Working with Soft Pastel

                             Changed from 30th. July

"Brilliant for speedy finished work"

Explore using pastel by itself and over other work. We will work on building layers and how techniques vary by how you hold the pastel stick. You will be introduced to  range of products and their different effects.

6th. August   Working with Pen and Line
