GalleryTWO: Landworks
Landworks forms part of a series of mainly miniature, yet significant, studies on how human technology, old and new, has had its influence on rural scenes. Penny takes regular art walks and then begins these works, like most of her working, intuitively, with breaks in between to ponder and adapt.
LineWorks
Lines, grids and meshes are mainly depicted on the lower hills, using assembled elements taken from previous explorations of urban structures. This can describe the city encroaching on the countryside, but also the formations on fields through mechanized ploughing.
The drama created through the
contrasting lines and colours is indicative
of dramatic changes in weather.

Boundaried
On walks, footpaths are increasingly being fenced off from grassland and woodland.
This is a depiction of fences in the distance, plants scrambling through and metal patterns forms contrasting with land and sky.
