The differences between the distant, middle ground and the fauna at our feet are composed on canvas or board through the stacking of different forms of landscape imagery. Fields of tall wild floral plants or their seed-heads, grasses expand skyward and rushes and reed in a wild pond create a distinct spatial element in the foreground or middle distance.
This layering of distance, with the sky and distant hills is abstracted and expressed through paint, pastel or drawing materials and sometimes other parts.
